Eden is the custom user interface built on top of ADAM's Androidoperating system, much like HTC Sense from HTC or TouchWiz from Samsung. It serves to improve the overall Android experience by changing some of the standard implementations on the native Android user interface. Detailed information on the Eden UI is available at: Week-End Special Part IV – The Eden!
Notion Ink initially announced the capability of running three Linux-based operating systems on ADAM: Android, Chrome OS and Ubuntu; but as of December 2010, there is only an Android version, with the custom Edenuser interface built on top. From an official statement, it is clear that dual-boot installation with any other OS will lead to voiding of the warranty.
When will Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) get Adobe Flash Player?
Adobe will offer Flash Player 10.2 pre-installed on some tablets and as an OTA download on others within a few weeks of Android 3 (Honeycomb) devices becoming available, the first of which is expected to be the Motorola Xoom.[S]
"Honeycomb is the next version of the Android platform, designed from the ground up for devices with larger screen sizes, particularly tablets. We’ve spent a lot of time refining the user experience in Honeycomb, and we’ve developed a brand new, truly virtual and holographic user interface. Many of Android’s existing features will really shine on Honeycomb: refined multi-tasking, elegant notifications, access to over 100,000 apps on Android Market, home screen customization with a new 3D experience and redesigned widgets that are richer and more interactive. We’ve also made some powerful upgrades to the web browser, including tabbed browsing, form auto-fill, syncing with your Google Chrome bookmarks, and incognito mode for private browsing.
Honeycomb also features the latest Google Mobile innovations including Google Maps 5 with 3D interactions and offline reliability, access to over 3 million Google eBooks, and Google Talk, which now allows you to video and voice chat with any other Google Talk enabled device (PC, tablet, etc). "
Not yet. According to Notion Ink's CEO Rohan Shravan, Android has not had native support for large screen applications, until the announcement of Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). The applications built for a smartphone may not be practical for a large screen tablet. This is the reason for introducing an online app store of their own, which goes by the name Genesis, that will have ADAM-specific apps. Mr. Shravan expects that the ADAM should get access to the Android Market with the Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) update. ADAM is however, an open device and is capable of installing Android apps by sideloading their .APK files via ADAM's Sniffer file-browsing app.
ADAM-specific apps will be available through Notion Ink's own online app store, called Genesis. Apps from Genesis are written with Eden in mind, and know how to make best use of its Panels, as well as having well designed full screen modes (at least in theory).
ADAM has three on-screen keyboards, one of them being a multi-touch implementation, offering keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl+Z and so on; and another is a split keyboard implementation. The third is the default keyboard on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
