1f – ROM - Operating System (OS) Alternatives

Page history last edited by cx650t 12 years ago Saved with comment

ROM Features (As of Apr 2012)

Android is available in multiple "flavors". First one on the ADAM was a "Froyo" based Android version 2.2 called EDEN. Since that time Google has released numerous "updates" to Android including "Gingerbread" V 2.3, "Honeycomb" V 3.0 and the latest "Ice Cream Sandwich" V 4.0. Unfortunately not one of these "operating" systems works with 100% functionality on ADAM. Only the folks at TabletRoms have produced any marginally usable operating systems for the ADAM tablet.

Here are some of the differences between the various flavors of available ADAM operating systems. List compiled from numerous sources. Base ADAM is listed first. Rest in Alphabetical order.

Just because a block is "RED" doesn't mean that the missing application can't be loaded separately. Blank cells I haven't been able to locate any information confirming or denying the availability.

I've used the Beast and am currently running Cromnia which isn't bad. Compass is still unusable and the GPS leaves a lot to be desired.

I haven't tried any of the later versions as I still haven't seen a "need" for any of them. I can't locate what each new version is supposed to "fix" from the previous versions, or what "critical" benefit the newer versions supposedly provide. The folks over at TabletRoms are working on a Linux ROM for ADAM too.
